Upon entering Pollone and traveling uphill along Via Pier Giorgio Frassati, the small cemetery comes into view at the intersection with Via Cangio. This is the place where Pier Giorgio's body was first laid to rest after the funeral Mass was celebrated in La Crocetta Church in Turin in 1925. It is here that Pier Giorgio's body was exhumed, examined and found to be perfectly incorrupt in 1981. It is here that Pope John Paul II came to pray in 1989, less than one year before the beatification ceremony.
The walls of the crypt depict beautiful religious art painted by Adelaide Ametis Frassati, Pier Giorgio's mother. Here in the family crypt, many members of the Frassati and Ametis families repose in peace.
