How’s the weather where you are? We went from incredible sunshine on Sunday to gloomy, overcast, rainy, very cold days. It’s been so cold here the past few days that we had to light a fire in the fireplace. Brrrrrrrrrrr! This morning, I woke to the view of Mount Mucrone and the other surrounding mountains covered in snow. Beautiful! I still have not had a chance to climb Mucrone this year because the weather has not permitted it and it looks as if it may not happen before I leave in a few days. But it is always spectacular to simply admire the mountain from a distance when it is not hidden from view.
When Pier Giorgio was alive, the family used to come here for the holidays. This is a five-story villa constructed mainly of concrete (is that the right word?) with marble and wood floors. They would have definitely relied on the many fireplaces for warmth during those times. Fortunately, wood is in abundance here in the mountains. For the past couple of days, we only had a fire going in one room downstairs but it made a considerable difference. Today the sun is shining again so brightly that it makes the last two days seem like a bad dream. Now it is the perfect weather to walk up the hill to the local bar for a cup of my favorite Italian beverage: cappuccino. Wish you could join me! ///cmw
