Today is the feast of St. Fabian and St. Sebastian -- two great early martyrs for the Faith. These saints play a small role in Pier Giorgio's life story. One of the churches in the town of Pollone, Italy -- where the Frassati summer villa is located -- is named for these two saints. However, the locals refer to the church as the "Cangio church" because of its location on Cangio Street.
This church was the site of the completion of Pier Giorgio's baptism. He had an emergency baptism with water only at the time of his birth in Turin. The completion of the full rite was done here many months later. For many decades, a large reproduction of the baptismal certificate hung on the wall. It has now been replaced with a smaller framed version. You can find pictures of this church and that baptismal record on the FrassatiUSA website by clicking here.
