Arguably the basilica with the most beautiful interior in Turin is the Santuario della Consolata (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation.) For centuries, the image of this Madonna has been most beloved by the Turinese people because of the many times she has protected the city. A portrait of Blessed Frassati is displayed in one of the many side chapels. He often attended Mass at La Consolata and used one of the side doors as a meeting place for his many "appointments" to serve the poor of Turin. "Meet me at six o'clock," he would say, "under the Consolata clock."
Travel tip: Many Italian churches close daily from noon to 3; but La Consolata stays open from 6:30 in the morning into the evening hours with about eight daily Masses. So it's good to plan a visit here when the other places are closed. Piazza della Consolata, 10122 Torino
